Steve Jobs

I truly felt inspired after watching Steve Jobs Commencement Address. His speech was personal and it gave me more hope for my success and my future. Before watching the address, I have been really hard on myself and haven’t been thinking positively. I have been feeling overwhelmed and feeling as though I haven’t been trying as hard in school and with my friends as I should be. So after listening to the commencement address, I have a little more hope for myself. Steve Jobs says, “So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever.” I will take this ‘connecting the dots’ approach and live by it because it worked for one of the most successful man in the world. He also talks about how not settling and never stop searching until you find what makes you happy. For me, I settle a lot and once I feel as though I have found something I can ‘deal’ with, then I am done looking. Jobs explains how being fired from Apple was a great new beginning for him because it taught him to keep on going, and not stopping until he knew he had reached his point of success that made him happy. Jobs also addresses another great insight he had, “Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” Throughout Jobs commencement address, he explains how nothing is easy. But with the right mindset and making sure your head is facing the right direction and you have a goal, you can achieve that goal with a few simple phases of the heart and mind.
