Performance Art :: Catching All Of The Lights

For my performance art piece, I decided to exploit the basics of technology using an LED hula hoop, strobe light, and the surrounding lights. The LED hoop has to be charged when it runs out of battery, but it lasts for hours and makes for a great light show. The strobe light added a fun affect (I am not sure if it was noticeable in the video) because it was reflecting off of the trees and our clothes. I chose hula hooping because my friends picked it up as a hobby a while back and they have really got me into it. I also thought it would be kind of fun to watch and also I had fun doing the project because I was able to include my friends and have an excuse to hang out with them (because they are so busy with school and work). ALSO, sorry for the explicit, degrading music...and our bad language.... :X   Hope you enjoy it.

Luis: created hilarious reactions because the piece was so clever
Hessa: it seemed very fun to create and it was a great collective experience
Abby: interesting way to de-contexturalize technology as well as eating the apples (logo)
Danielle:  it reminded me of a fashion show which i loved and it was a great way to gain the attention of people
Stef: i thought it was very creative and it was ironic because it was recorded on a droid
Grace: very funny and it was a great connection to always being blinded by staring at a cell phone
Sebastian: i like how it questions if it really is him and how the father and child were able to interact with the piece
Emily: it was very interactive and i liked how you were able to actually capture the anger behind the swings
Francesca: so cool how you interconnected to him through the compuer
Jon: it was almost like a simulated race kart ...  if he was able to use the scooter
Roy: i was intersted of the idea dead technology vs new technology
Hannah: i liked how by running and having the monitor on your back, you were de-contexturalizing the monitor
Amanda: i enjoyed how the piece caused her to lose her identity and she is physically interacting with the technology

  1. this video was a good idea it just needed to be more thought out. it was too dark to see anything and lacked more people to the performance piece. this would had been a great video if you would had finished it
